We’re hiring for two new positions

• Program Manager (Jackson, Miss.) – a driven and proactive leader who will support the launch of our new student journalism program in Jackson, Mississippi.

Miseducation reporters share experiences with school segregation

“I don’t believe in screened schools at all. … When we make unscreened schools normal, then we will reap the benefits of that. … You’re going to see students who are not at competition with each other but students who want to form community with one another.”

Miseducation student podcast reporters Katelyn Melville, Bernie Carmona, and Kelsi Bowen spoke alongside education advocates about the impact of competitive admissions screens at Fordham Law School on November 18. The panel was part of a day-long conference titled Two Decades of NYC High School Admissions: Effects, Equity, and Experiences organized by New York Appleseed.

Student leaders present at the National High School Journalism Convention

The Youth Journalism Coalition’s Student Journalist Action Group (SJAG) traveled to Philadelphia to present at the National High School Journalism Convention on November 9. They spoke to attendees from across the country about their experiences advocating for the Journalism for All initiative and gave advice on how students can do similar work in their own communities.
